Latte Letters 001

Latte Letters 001
Spread the love

This is my first installment of Latte Letters. We’ll see what happens here.

What are Latte Letters?

This is a non-recipe portion of the blog where I share a little bit of my heart as if we were sitting across from each other at a cafe, or writing each other through snail mail.

Grab a cup of coffee and let’s chat. You can always reply to this over on my Instagram.

Snail Mail

I just got done reading a letter from my mom. She writes me letters and sends me happy mail and makes her own envelopes usually. They’re always unique and sweet and I hope we never stop sending each other letters. I will be that old lady that has a box of letters. I hope my child(ren) enjoy finding these letters someday. Let’s be real, I already have saved lots of notes and letters from over the years so I don’t even have to be old to achieve this.

Waiting

Since my family is spread across the globe, we talk a lot over the internet. Oh, how I’m grateful for technology. These past years have felt like a long waiting game for my family in a lot of ways.

What do you do when you’re in the waiting pattern? Do you grow impatient? Does the waiting make you question everything? Do you jump before you should?

As I’ve watched my mom wait for answers to a need in her life, I have seen several things that have stood out to me. Perhaps these lessons on waiting may encourage you as they’ve encouraged my heart.

Action. Even though this has been a season of waiting, I’ve watched her take action and a willingness to be met with a “no”.

Patience. Though the waiting process has seemed to drag on, there has been a sense of calm as she exercised patience, waiting for an ultimate decision.

Trust. Her trust in God has been what has stood out to me the most. To answer the questions above, I tend to be a little short-sighted when it comes to the process of waiting. If the answer doesn’t come on my timeline, I become impatient. However, my mother, though longing for an answer, has been an example to all of us that God is trustworthy and in total control. Sometimes I’d sit and beg God to give her a YES, but for years all she received was a no.

Rejoice. During the waiting, she rejoiced in God’s faithfulness. When she was surprised with an unexpected YES (after years of waiting), the glory went directly to God. And that is how it should be folks. From Him and to him and through him is everything, so may to God be the glory alone (Romans 11:36).

Maybe you’re waiting. Waiting for health to improve. Maybe it is a house to sell. Perhaps you’re waiting for your child to sober up. It could be that you’re waiting for provision. I don’t know what it is that you’re waiting for but maybe the things I observed from my mom will challenge you. Take action, have patience, trust in God and rejoice.

What are your current 5 favorite things? Tell me over on Instagram. No really, go ahead and DM me!

Mine are:

  1. Vanilla hazelnut coffee. Yeah, the cheap Don Franscico’s coffee that costs $4.34 at Walmart. Love it. I’m easy to please.
  2. Costco gas. What an adult favorite. But yes, I prefer to stop in at Costco to get gas because it is 20-30 cents cheaper. I told my friend that I was excited it was $3.22 recently, she gagged, telling me how cheap her gas was. I forget the price cause I didn’t want to become bitter.
  3. Apricots. My neighbor has given me access to her tree and we’ve been coming up with creative ways to eat apricots. My latest favorite has been roasting them. Oh my goodness. YES.
  4. Embroidered ball caps. A friend posted some pictures of embroidered ball caps and I knew I needed to make one. I found some inspiration on Pinterest and went to town making my own floral embroidered hat. (Also, Walmart has solid colored hats in the purse section for $4.)
  5. My roses. I thought the blooms were done. Turns out, if you prune the bushes they keep growing buds! I have about 20 bushes and they’re all so beautiful!

Alrighty, that’s all for now!

As with any coffee date, all good things must come to an end. I hope you have a lovely day. I’ll leave you with this quote to enjoy.

Anne of Green Gables Quote by L.M. Montogmery about being grateful to be alive.

  • What what a sweet testimony of your mother’s faithfulness and also god’s faithfulness to you in teaching you something from your mom’s example. So sweet and also #goals from both sides of that story. My favorite thing right now is pool time with my kids! I’m going to buy some of that coffee too!

    • Thanks for stopping by, Bethany! I love that you’re enjoying pool time with your kiddos! Let me know if you like the coffee. They have a few other flavors too that I’ve also enjoyed :)!!
