How to cook Smoked Sausage in a Pressure Cooker

It is really easy to cook smoked sausage using an Instant Pot or pressure cooker. Simply add a little oil or butter to the pan and turn on the saute mode. Add sliced kielbasa or smoked sausage to the Instant Pot and cook for several minutes, stirring occasionally to get all of the sides evenly heated.
Some recipes have you throw the kielbasa into the recipe without cooking it first, that is a fine option but you’ll get much more flavor for your whole dish if you saute it first!
Ingredients for this Instant Pot Kielbasa and Cabbage Recipe

- Cabbage
- Butter
- Onion
- Salt
- Kielbasa or sausage of your choice
- Chicken Stock (or beef or vegetable stock)

Tips and Steps for cooking Kielbasa and Cabbage in the Instant Pot
Making kielbasa and cabbage in the Instant Pot is not difficult at all! Just follow a few steps and you’ll have dinner ready in no time.
First, heat your pressure cooker or Instant Pot on saute mode and melt the butter then saute the onions.

Push the onions to the side and add the kielbasa.

Saute the kielbasa until the edges have browned (about 5 minutes, stirring regularly).

Add the chicken stock and deglaze the bottom of the pan (this is where there is a lot of flavor!). Quickly add the cabbage and salt and mix everything well.

Switch the Instant Pot to steam mode, and cook for 2 minutes. Make sure the steam valve is closed and the lid is securely closed.

This recipe is only about 6g net carbs per serving *if you use this for 4 servings*. However, if you’re feeding a family with smaller children, this could easily feed 6, especially if you serve this with some sides.
If you want to add extra cabbage to make this recipe stretch further, go for it. This will change the nutrition facts a bit.
